Functional Pottery

For the past five years, I have dedicated my time to creating functional pottery. During my coursework at Creighton University, I explored various art forms and found ceramics to be the most challenging yet rewarding. This unexpected discovery revealed many parallels between my artistic work ethic and my capabilities as a graduate student and scientist. In my gap year, I worked full-time as a research assistant while dedicating around 20 hours a week to pottery. I sold my pieces to local stores and community members, finding immense satisfaction in the steady improvement of my skills and the joy of connecting with others through gift-giving. Now, as a graduate student at Oregon State University, I have continued to create both commissioned and exploratory pottery pieces beyond my coral reef sculptures. This ongoing practice not only enhances my technical skills but also strengthens my community ties and personal fulfillment.
